We Eat What We Like!!
By popular demand, I finally broke down and decided to work cereal into my cupcakes. Now mind you, I haven’t eaten these particular cereals in literally 2 decades…*sigh* decades (with an “s”)….Anyways, I just remembered how sweet they were…and how most of them scratched the roof of my mouth.
That said, despite the rock-like texture and ridiculously bright colors (which are all COMPLETELY natural, right?), I wanted to make them into delicious cupcakes that even adults would love.
First on the list, is the Fruity Pebbles Cupcake. I wanted an excuse to use my super colorful sprinkles, so I decided on a homemade funfetti cake…

But not just any ol’ fashion funfetti cake—I infused it with Oude Tart since it was Sourfest at the Library Alehouse in Santa Monica.

For more texture, I made a Froot Loops crust (can’t even tell you how many times I had to correct myself and write “Froot” instead of “Fruit.” I hate intentionally spelling things incorrectly). Actually, you know what’s worse? Spelling things incorrectly unintentionally.
You should be ashamed of yourselves, Food Network. MaRscapone? Really?:

Whoever does the proofreading should be fired for spelling “mascarpone” wrong TWICE…Actually, once, if it was up to me.
Lastly, I finished it off with a vanilla cream cheese buttercream and a Fruity Pebbles garnish.

Second on the list, is the Cocoa Pebble Crunch Cupcake. From the plate up, a Cocoa Puff Crust, chocolate cake infused with Smog City Groundwork Porter, topped with a whipped cream frosting and garnished with Cocoa Pebbles:

To complete this round of childhood cereal treats is the Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries cupcake. Vanilla cupcake made with vanilla bean infused sugar:

Filled with a strawberry compote, topped with a strawberry cream cheese buttercream and garnished with…
Marshmallow Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries Treats…

(side note…what the hell is in Cap’n Crunch? Why do the cartoons on the back of the box look so…um…alert? Clearly, it’s a sedative.)

Anyways, they turned out rather pretty…and pretty delicious. Thoughts?
